When looking at scenes of the wilderness, I wanted to create a piece that reflects the natural elements of a landscape, so I used a leaf as a canvas. On one leaf I have painted the scene of a forest, making it dark and giving it depth. I like how the holes in the leaf relate to dappled light through trees.

On another leaf I have painted the landscape of a desert at sunset. When painting the leaves I first painted the leaf with a light base colour as the background, then I added the darker colours such as the tips of the sand dunes. When dry, I sealed the paintings with PVA glue.

In the last leaf I painted the landscape of a mountain range. Overall I think the most effective leaf was the desert, as it’s the most visible, as the mountains and forest were too dark.
