At the start of the course, we created some observational drawings of engines and recorded our observations with charcoal, pencil and Indian ink. Some were rough sketches and some were more refined to put into a composition to portray the fine details of the engines.

In this task, my strengths were using pencil to show the outlines of the shapes and some tone, as well as parts of the charcoal composition that conveyed the dark tones of the cogs and shadows within the smaller details.

My weaknesses were with the Indian ink, as it was the first time I had used this media. I think the drawings using the ink lack some refined lines to show the details of each part, and it was difficult to shade so the ink drawings need more definition.
