The second piece of artwork we did in the design pathway was a poster based on Russian Propaganda and the influence of Constructivism on the designs. We first researched the characteristics of the propaganda posters, including sharp, geometric shapes, the use of faces and photographs and minimal primary colours.
My strengths with this poster was creating the geometric shapes and adding the photocopied images to the poster. I also enjoyed creating my own interpretation of Russian Propaganda posters, using the techniques to create an imposing piece.
When making a hand painted version of a poster, we used a strip of card and acrylic to make block colours. I found making a block colour using this method quite difficult, and as a result the blue background has different tones rather than one tone.
